In this book, I highlight a number of creators who did not compromise during the years of the dictatorship, and because of this they made great sacrifices. Together with Ágnes Nagy Nemes, we can confess that „no authentic art is possible without an authentic life.”
The famous personalities of a generation of writers and poets – especially the new moons – did not have children. Instead of descendants, they gave works to eternity. They were young, yet remained childless, because that would have made them vulnerable to the system.
It is typical of the people featured in the volume that they created works for children in the decisive creative phase of their lives. (They were not allowed to write for adult readers for a while…)
For this reason, in a transformed literary space, in another field within it, they were still able to preserve their independence, their creation of aesthetic value, and inscribed their names both into youth literature and into the hearts of children also.
