Book 16. I settled down to myself

Edition:

I SETTLED DOWN TO MYSELF
(Memories, stories, letters)
Budapest, L’Harmattan, 2021

Short description:

Not only our past family histories, but also our recent past is full of unfinished stories and unanswered questions, some of which are passed on to us epigenetically. The book also shows that life is dangerous – and the less it is, the less life it is.

In recent times, I have written several monographs standing in the shoes of others, but in this volume I mainly organize the stories related to me: the way I experienced them.

I recorded some of my personal memories, and they became quite personal in tone. Perhaps this little volume is too revealing, but I hope I haven’t become a show-off type. Condensed into episodes, a rather stormy century comes to life in it.

People who have been dead for a long time come back to life for the sake of a story or an anecdote. On the other hand, there are not and cannot be final answers to the fundamentally important questions, only attempts to find them.
