Short description:

This volume was born from the desire to get to know László, because we want to get an idea of him, based not only on his biography, but also on the basis of his writings. Of course, it is not necessary to be a major writer in order to be able to prepare an independent professional work about a creative world that presents a true realist, but still quite mediocre writer.

Although this is no small matter in the literary region of Móricz and Kosztolányi, even if in a moral sense the monograph does not (in retrospect!) consider the author a „valuable person”. Examining his works, we can experience what Babits formulated, that every writing achievement is a new attitude towards life.

This is the so-called attitude what we are looking for – with which he appeared as a writer in Hungarian literature. His search for reality goes beyond the sociographic representation of our 20th century history: in his works he draws human destinies, life situations and chosen life paths.

He deals with the „social man” until he reaches the „moral man”, which cannot be an exact concept for him from a characterological and spiritual point of view, but in his world of writing he represents this in a quintessential way: in a lifelike way, sometimes even authentically.
