The decades that have passed since the death of László Cs. Szabó (1905-1984) have made it timely to reconsider his place and role in literature. The author of the volume included several years of research work in a monograph: he pieced together the oeuvre that had been torn apart for historical reasons.
He did not want his life’s work to remain in the „cold shadow”, as Cs. Szabó is one of the outstanding practitioners of intellectual prose in the Hungarian language in the 20th century; who, in addition to European culture, also believed in his Hungarianness in his works.
This book is not wax, which reproduces the entire biography or work of Cs. Szabó as an imprint, but rather a compass – as he himself was for the emigration – which presents the main milestones of his life and their creative, historical and psychological background.
