SAVING THE HORIZON
(Essays, studies, career profiles)
Budapest, L’Harmattan, 2015
Short description:
There is a specific line of our literature in Western Europe, overseas and the Carpathian Basin, which has managed to create a sharp and specific image of itself with a sure, steady hand.
None of the creators featured in this volume could avoid the historical cataclysms of the 20th century; these still influence our daily lives and literature. This provides enough reason to overthink and rethink our cultural attitudes towards ourselves and each other.
Therefore, the book provides a place not only for Hungarian artists, but also for former emigrants, Western European and overseas Hungarian artists. The works of such writers and poets, as well as works written about them, will be discussed, which give the aesthetic and ideological characteristics of a part of 20th century Hungarian literature.
The studies are intended to help bring to the surface the values that influence individual and community fate in works of a wide variety of aesthetic composition. All this serves the unity of Hungarian literature, the complementary effect of the values coming from several directions.
